Animal Motif on Macbeth Essay Example for Free
Animal Motif on Macbeth Essay Shakespeare uses animal motif extensively to convey to the audience Macbethââ¬â¢s thoughts and also to reflect the progress of the plot in general. In scene i and iii of Act III, horses are mentioned repeatedly. Before delving into these scenes, it is important to note the role of horses previously: recently, Duncanââ¬â¢s fine, well-bred horses turned wild and ate each other. In scene i, Macbeth urges Banquo to his horse: ââ¬Å"Hie you to horseâ⬠(III, i, 34) and in scene iii, the murderers that Macbeth hired become conscious of Banquoââ¬â¢s presence: ââ¬Å"Hark, I hear horses. â⬠(III, iii, 8) The horses epitomize the witchesââ¬â¢ prophesy that fair will be foul and foul will be fair. Horses that are meant to facilitate transportation (constructive) are now destructive. This change in the influence of horses reflects the deep degree to which disorder and confusion extend in Scotland now. On a few occasions, Macbeth uses an animal to directly describe his feelings. He does so in scene ii, right after he provokes men into vowing to murder his friend Banquo, by saying his mind is ââ¬Å"full of scorpionsâ⬠(III, ii, 36). Indeed, like venomous scorpions, Macbeth is now fully engaged in harming others. Another example is when Macbeth tells Lady Macbeth that they ââ¬Å"have scotched the snake, not killed itâ⬠(III, ii, 13), an indication that Macbeth does and will not feel his position is secure until Banquo is killed as well. It is also worth noting that even though Macbeth is referring to Lady Macbethââ¬â¢s earlier serpent motif (I, v, 64), Macbeth is comparing the snake to Banquo, while Lady Macbeth compares the snake to Macbeth. This change seems inappropriate, since Banquo does not seem to possess the characteristics that snakes are typically associated with: slyness. Macbeth is in fact deceiving himself into thinking that Banquo is as cunningly treacherous as himself, as is shown in his soliloquy when he thinks: ââ¬Å"[Banquo] chid the sistersâ⬠(III, i, 56). During Macbeth and Banquoââ¬â¢s first encounter with the witches, Banquo clearly states that he â⬠neither [begs] nor [fears their] favours nor [their] hate. â⬠(I, iii, 60-61) It was Macbeth who criticized the witches of being ââ¬Å"imperfect speakersâ⬠(I, iii, 70) and demanded to know more. Macbeth is deluding himself into thinking negatively of Banquo to justify himself for murdering his friend, to rid himself of guilt. This effort is in turn a stage of Macbethââ¬â¢s transformation of losing conscience and becoming one who is full of only greed and ambition.

The Alliance Between China and the Soviet Union Essay -- History, Sin
The alliance between the Peopleââ¬â¢s Republic of China (PRC) and the Soviet Union was formed as a result of mutual interests and the desire of both states to pursue their respective national and geopolitical imperatives. Although Chinese historical experience and Marxist ideology played a role in constructing these interests, the actions of the Chinese Community Party (CCP) reflect an overarching proclivity toward solidifying their power and securing the nascent republic. This essay will examine the multifarious factors that influenced the Soviet alliance, including relations between the PRC, United States (US) and Soviet Union in addition to PRC foreign policy and its strategic objectives. Historical conceptions of Chinaââ¬â¢s culture and global position shaped the PRCââ¬â¢s perspective. Central to this is Sino-centrism and its edict from heaven for dynastic China to spread civilisation (Xinning 2001: 70). Imperial Chinaââ¬â¢s tribute system represented a ââ¬Å"Pax Sinicaâ⬠and the physical manifestation of Sino-centrism, with its success affirming Chinese cultural superiority (Y. Zhang 2001: 52). Instructive in this is Sino-centrismââ¬â¢s similarity to, and conflict with American Manifest Destiny, itself an articulation that Anglo-Saxon Americanââ¬â¢s are Godââ¬â¢s chosen people, with a superior culture and who are pre-ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009: 169). The PRCââ¬â¢s nationalism can be seen in part as a rejection of this competing celestial mandate, linking Chinaââ¬â¢s decline to foreign intervention and the acceding to unequal treaties that saw the loss of peripheral territories considered intrinsi c to historic China (Kissinger 2011: 112). In this way, the PRCââ¬â¢s formation as a modern nation state is the recrudescence of Sino-... ... bloc (Goldstein 1995: 50). Hence, in allying with the Soviets the PRC were able to ameliorate the core issues that posed an existential threat to their republic. It is difficult to conclude anything other than that the alliance between the PRC and the Soviet Union was chiefly born out of necessity. Certainly, the common ideology and revolutionary nature of the CCP allowed for a collective understanding that sometimes amalgamated into shared objectives. Even so, PRC actions suggest an appeasement rather than a genuine alignment with the Soviet Union. Accordingly, Beijing and Moscow appear reluctant allies, with a hint of the Prisonerââ¬â¢s Dilemma to their alliance ââ¬â each, though particularly the PRC, facing deleterious consequences by pursuing an independent path.In cooperating, the PRC were able to build their state and counterbalancing the perceived US threat.

Directing the movie called Essay
My name is Ahsan Mojumder . I am directing the movie called ââ¬Å"Romeo Julietâ⬠. My movie is basically written based on William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s mind blowing Romeo and Juliet. As a modern director I think Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Romeo and Juliet is old fashioned. The language, communication system, characters everything has changed according to new era, as a director I am thinking why should the story line up remain the same. We can use the themes from Romeo and Juliet. Under these circumstances decided to make it contemporary upgraded version of Romeo and Juliet brief description of my upgraded story of immortal love is given below: Characters Romeo: 19 years old Vincent: Romeoââ¬â¢s father Mrs. Vincent: Romeoââ¬â¢s mother Juliet: 18 years old Bill: Julietââ¬â¢s father Mrs. Bill: Julietââ¬â¢s mother Morcutio: Julietââ¬â¢s brother and Romeoââ¬â¢s best friend. Britney: Julietââ¬â¢s friend Charle: Britneyââ¬â¢s Father Mrs. Charle: Britneyââ¬â¢s mother The story is about a couple of lover, who wanted to get together but the social status was not letting it happen. Vincent is rich merchant. He has massive business. Andrew is his one and only son. Andrew is a university student. He is studying in Computing and business. Morcutio is his best friend in university. Morcutioââ¬â¢s dad Bill is a clerk in an office. Mr. Vincent loves his son and daughter like every dad in this world. But his son and daughter are far away for him because he is always busy in his Business. Thatââ¬â¢s why he canââ¬â¢t give them enough time. Romeo loves Juliet . Who is his best friend Morcutiosââ¬â¢s sister. Thatââ¬â¢s how they know each other. Both of the families donââ¬â¢t know anything about the relationship between them. But Julietââ¬â¢s mother starts to understand it nowadays. As days passing by love is becoming more and more dense. They are having a good time. But suddenly something start to happen in their life. Romeoââ¬â¢s mum and dad arranged their sonââ¬â¢s marriage with their friend Charleââ¬â¢s daughter named Britney. Romeo and Juliet become resourceless. They canââ¬â¢t think about what to do. Should they run away from the society or they should sucide? They decided to ask Morcutioââ¬â¢s to help them. Morcutio talked with his parents but they said if Romeoââ¬â¢s family agree they havenââ¬â¢t got any problem about this relationship. Now itââ¬â¢s Romeoââ¬â¢s turn to ask his parents. But he hasnââ¬â¢t got enough influence to talk to them. For Juliet sake he decided to tell them the truth. Romeoââ¬â¢s parents said no way because of her dad. Juliet talked with Britney to give them few more times. Britney said she would try her best. Britney did know that they love each other but she canââ¬â¢t help it. Because this is her parent and Romeoââ¬â¢s parents wish. If they said something they saidâ⬠¦. which canââ¬â¢t be changed. Thatââ¬â¢s why Britney doesnââ¬â¢t want to talk to them. Julietââ¬â¢s family is keep saying about the social difference economically. Andrew and Juliet are sitting together on Julietââ¬â¢s home balcony. They are thinking how to stop this marriage and how to get together. They have decided they will leave this unscrupulous unverified society. They made a plan and went away from them. Their parents informed the police. But police says that they canââ¬â¢t do anything in this case. Because they are young enough to make their own decisions. They gave the same statement to Police. They got married and lived happily ever afterâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦ From the story I am going to direct the balcony scene where they decided to split up from their families. Each of the character has developed in my story rather than Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Romeo and Juliet. Settings: Location: A simple balcony. Shouldnââ¬â¢t be luxurious to make a difference between Romeoââ¬â¢s home balcony. Than the audience can feel the social difference between two communities. Dress up: contemporary dresses and suits. Background music: Romantic. They both are sitting on chair and facing each other. They are discussing what to do. The script has been attached below- Romeo: ââ¬Å"I decide we are going to go far away from here. We will go somewhere else where nobody will try to split us. We will start a new life together. Do you agree with me love? â⬠Juliet: ââ¬Å"Whatever you say my Romeo. I gave you my heart, my soul, my mind and now you are asking for my opinion! I agree with you my Romeo. â⬠Romeo: ââ¬Å"You have saved me. If you would say no, I would suicide my love. â⬠Juliet: ââ¬Å"Never ever say that what you have just said. You canââ¬â¢t die without me. If you have to tell me I would like to die with you. â⬠Romeo: (Holding her hands as they dance): ââ¬Å"I love holding your hands; may I kiss it? â⬠Juliet: (amused, cautious): ââ¬Å"You are being a little too bold in wanting to kiss me. If you are really a pilgrim, you should greet me only with your hand, as ââ¬Ëpalmersââ¬â¢ do. â⬠Romeo: ââ¬Å"Hey, even holy pilgrim are human, they have got lips. Please let me kiss you. Stand still while I kiss you. â⬠(He kisses her lips) Juliet: (Thrilled and amused at the same time): ââ¬Å"you donââ¬â¢t really need all this artificial argumentation to justify kissing me, you know. Letââ¬â¢s get serious. â⬠As I said my story is a contemporary and upgraded version of William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Romeo and Julietâ⬠I used regular pattern of English as script. William Shakespeare ââ¬Å"Romeo and Juliet was written in 1595. Actually Romeo and Juliet was written as a play . The story is of course about a pair of star crossed lovers. Two teenagers pursue their love for each other despite the fact that their families have been at odds with each other for decades. In Verona (Italy) in the late 1500ââ¬â¢s two powerful families the Montague and the Capulet have been feuding with each other for years. But two people from two different communities get together and falled in love. When they realised they are resource less about their love and life they choose a different way to get together. But for a bit misunderstanding they lead their life to death. The script used for Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Romeo and Juliet was basically in a special kind of poetic device called ââ¬Å"Sonnetâ⬠. Which was also invented by great William Shakespeare. The main characteristics of this poetic device are- 1. 16 lines 2. Fixed rhymes pattern Italian cities were infamous for their long lasting deadly feuds between prominent families. Think the play was written as a part of his contribution with others to say ââ¬Å"noâ⬠against such conflicts. The greatest theme in Romeo and Juliet is Love. As I said itââ¬â¢s a contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet so I tried my best to keep the vital theme of the play. But in this modern society everything has been changing rather than Shakespeareââ¬â¢s era. Such a fact like communication system could change the theme in Romeo and Juliet. I think if Internet would available on that time they might alive until they meet each other. So I have to change the theme slightly as a modern director of Romeo and Juliet. And I also have changed the characters line up in order to give you something different. I havenââ¬â¢t involved any violence in my story because nowadays violence is not a rear, so people donââ¬â¢t want to see any violence between love and lovers. I mentioned earlier about use of language in Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Romeo and Juliet. As you have seen my script, which is written in regular pattern of English, so people can understand it easily and also the people of other countries can enjoy the movie.
